New and revised standard in the field of TC, as Software and Technical Communication Vocabulary
Standards can be most helpful. However, there’s not enough time during your daily work to research for new standards and standardization projects. And when you hear about a new standard, you often don’t know if it is necessary to apply it or if the standard is at least helpful at some extent. The presentation gives you an overview of the most important new standards and standardization projects in the field of TC. Among other things, the presentation introduces standards and projects in the field of software documentation and terminology. The aim of the presentation is to enable you to determine which of the new standards will be necessary or helpful for your work.
IEC/IEEE 82079-1 and ISO 20607: Tool box for the implementation of the Machinery Directive in the Technical Editing Dept.
IEC/IEEE 822079-1 is a horizontal standard and contains principles and general requirements for information for use of products. After revision, the standard presents itself as edition 2, with many important innovations and in a clear structure. The scope of ISO 20607 covers exclusively products of mechanical engineering. The presentation uses selected examples to show how these two standards can help to meet the requirements of MD 2006/42/EC for technical documentation. This toolkit can facilitate and efficiently support the daily work of the technical writer.
